A Value Judgement
26 August
News reached us this week that a client for whom we had prepared a valuation report reached an out of court settlement with the other side.
This case involved the valuation of an agency terminated by the principal, with the entitlement to compensatory payments established by the Lonsdale v Howard-Hallam case which went before the House of Lords in June 2007.
WKH Partner John Sheehan, who prepared the agency valuation report as well as a rebuttal of arguments put forward by the other side's accountants, comments "Although our client did not have his day in Court, I am told that he was happy with the final outcome and, in the final analysis, cases that do go into the Courtroom can end up costing both sides a great deal of money."
